MUTUAL CHALLENGES FOR WHOLE REGION
Dementia should be considered as a serious issue linked to the phenomenon of aging population. The mental illness requires knowledge, skills, post-diagnostic support through multi-agency approach to treatment; a regulated social welfare system, adjusted environment and high degree of awareness of the needs of people affected by dementia.
After the analysis of all the data, the following questions arise:
1. Are we legging behind when it comes to establishing accessible care for all people who desperately need it? By this we mean long-term care, establishing dementia-friendly societies and age-appropriate environments.
2. Are there common solutions for the Western and Eastern Europe?
3. How can solutions be sustainable for both wealthier and poorer countries in this region?
